What is the TSI?

The Texas Success Initiative (TSI) is a state assessment designed to determine if a student is ready for college-level course work in the general areas of reading, writing, and mathematics.  This assessment will also help determine what type of course or intervention will best meet the student's needs and to assist in becoming better prepared for college-level course work.

  • Mathematics: minimum score of 350
  • Reading: minimum score of 351
  • Writing: a score of 5 on the essay section or a score of 4 on the essay section and a minimum score of 363 on the multiple choice section.

Everyone is required to take a pre-assessment prior to taking the TSI. To complete your pre-assessment now, please visit the CASA website
